The Celebrating Devanga:
We are of Brahminical origin and were also called Devabrahmana in the past. We can trace the origins of our weaving tradition to a sage called Devala Maharshi, who is believed to be the first man to weave a cotton cloth. Goddess Chowdeshwari is our revered deity. Legend has it that the goddess had helped Devala hand over the cloth to Lord Shiva.
